Girl Guiding Magazine

This is my magazine project. I created a magazine for the Girl Guides as I am a Guide leader therefore know a lot about Guiding; this includes the branding and the colours. The magazine is aimed at the girls who are aged 10 - 14 which is why I chose bold and bright colours. The badge and photo images are copied from the GirlGuidingUK website. 

I used Adobe Indesign to create the layout and structure of the magazine and Illustrator to create the illustrations.

Memories Painting

This is a project based around memories. I took the two images of myself from school and recreated them through painting. This was to show the memories I had and made during my school years. 

I painted them on an art canvas and used acrylic paint for the images of myself. I used tea to stain the background with a sprinkle of coffee and salt to add texture.

1984 Poster

This is the poster from my book cover brief. I used the same layout used in front of the book cover for this design. I took out a line from the background quote and replaced it with another quote "Down with Big Brother." This is to show the rebellious side of the main character. 

I used Adobe Illustrator to create this design.

Rocky Horror Poster

This is my film cover poster which I designed with my dvd cover. I used the same topless man that was in my dvd front cover however I placed a wooden board over parts of the golden hot pants. I did this as it would keep the two designs linked.

I used Adobe Photoshop to enhance the image. I also used Illustrator to create the rest of the designs.

Post Cards

The design above is of my post card brief in which we have to use post cards to show an anti-bullying message. I photographed gummy bear sweets which represent people. I used this as the designs are aimed at children ages 9-11. I used the green gummy bear as it represents good and the red gummy bears for the bully's as it's an angry colour. 

I used Photoshop to enhance the gummy bear pictures. I used Adobe Illustrator to design and illustrate the post cards.

The People's Palace Poster

This is my Birmingham City library poster which is part of an advertising brief to encourage people to go to the newly built library. I used the image from the typography billboard for the bottom of my design so that they word work together. I created sections to show what the library has to offer by using illustrated images. 

To create this design I used Adobe Illustrator

1984 Book Cover

This is my book cover brief in which I have redesigned the book cover for George Orwell’s 1984. I used a quote from the book for the background on my book cover. I used a camera lens in the eye to reflect upon Big Brother watching you. I placed a rat as a pupil because the character Winston was tortured in room 101 with rats.
I used Adobe Illustrator to create the book cover design and used InDesign to place the book cover together.

Sugar Craft Rose

The image above is a photo I took of my sugar craft roses. I made the three roses and the petals out of icing. I did this as part of my D of E skills section in which I went to sugar craft lessons.

I used photoshop to touch up the background of this photo.

Typography Brain

This is my typography brain poster which shows off the brain of a stereotypical girl. I have used items that teenage girls are often said to think about most for the main part of the brain, which is in pink, while using items which teenagers usually put on the back burner placed at the back of the brain.
I used Adobe Illustrator to create this design.

The People's Palace Billboard

This is my Birmingham City library billboard which was part of an advertising brief to encourage the people to go to the newly built library. I focused on typography with this design and formed the words into the shape and colours of the new library. I chose to do this as the building stands out from the other types of buildings in Birmingham.
To create this image I used Adobe Illustrator even though I could have used InDesign. I felt that Illustrator gave me more freedom to manipulate the letters.

Rocky Horror dvd

This is a film dvd cover which I designed as part of our film brief. On the front of my design I used a man in gold hot pants for the main image of this design as it portrays the sexual nature of the film as well as being a reference to the outfit of the character, Rocky.  

I took my own photos for my designs and used Adobe Photoshop to enhance them. I also used Adobe Illustrator to place and create the rest of my design.

Kiss Me Dino

This is a t-shirt design which I designed and submitted in to the website Threadless. I chose to create an illustrated/cartoon dinosaur which is saying a humous sentence. I think that the design is fun and playful which would look good and standout on a t-shirt.

I created a illustrated dinosaur using Adobe Illustrator, then I used photoshop to place the design on the iPhone case and the t-shirt.
